Alright @YouTheReader,
Thursday’s Banter tune is Mr. Brightside by The Killers, specifically Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke Remix without the lyrics.
More importantly, if you ever find something funny on the internet, have a story to share, or some insight on your favorite team, you can always send over a text, direct message on social media, or email WeekToWeekNotes@gmail.com. Thanks!
NY Yankees & Jets Banter

Drew: This is great
Robby: Yes. We have a real GM
The next move is to offer Breece an identical Kenneth Walker contract. Doubt he can ask for much more.
Drew: Yup, he really has no argument to make more than Walker.
Robby: The argument could be that this team stinks and I want to go win. I’m hoping he’d be wrong, but that’s all he’s seen.
True, at least then the Jets can say they tried. If Breece says he wants out, so be it.
Robby: Just checking in on the Mets bullpen.
Drew: lol they are hilarious
They do at least provide some entertainment value.
So, pretty much just try to avoid the whole tri-state. I get it’s going to be a big deal, but this seems a bit dramatic lol
Robby: When does it start?
First week of June, but I think they’ll have warm-up exhibitions around the country towards the end of May.
Robby: Bernabe !!
Just an absurd lineup. I was just looking at their baseball reference page and didn’t know Mike Lowell actually played like 10 games in September.
Robby: Good player
Drew: The Knicks are winning by 50!
Has to be a broadcast malfunction, right??
Robby: Oh my - that’s the real score !! The Knicks went on a 39-4 run. That seems impossible.
Robby: This dude was good. Dumb injury.
Chien-Ming Wang had a cool windup and a filthy sinker. Should’ve been a 10-year Yankee.
Drew: Wow. I just watched that same video and went down a rabbit hole into the mid-2000s Yankees. The pitching was so bad it’s crazy. ‘05 lineup in the game, they were eliminated by the Angels in ALDS:
Jeter
ARod
Giambi
Sheffield
Matsui
Cano
Bernie
Jorge
Bubba Crosby
Robby: Pitching was so bad
Robby: Gonna be a star and fans gonna love him.

Robby: Absurd
A nice part too is Mikal Bridges had a good game. They’ll need his confidence back up.
5/2 ‘26
Robby: This is what they should do. I still hope he can be the guy, but he’s not needed right now.
Caballero is on pace for 15 homers and 50 steals. Who knows if he can sustain it, but no need to mix things up. I wonder if they consider trying Volpe out at 2B some
Robby: Will be interesting to see what they do
Drew: If anything, can Volpe come up to replace Jazz? He kinda stinks. Btw, I recently figured out you can watch all the Yankees minor league games on an app called Bally Sports Live. Pretty cool, I’m about to watch Lombard’s at-bat in Scranton.
Robby: Let’s go !!
Drew: He struck out. Still cool tho!
5/3 ‘26
Robby: Volpe is screwed.
Robby: That’s funny
The Mets have made him their #1 priority this offseason.
What a week for their family, pretty absurd. (Also, Grandma broke this story to me.)
Robby: Wow
Drew: That’s incredible…Dang. Ben Rice is hurt
Robby: How bad? What happened
Drew: I can’t tell. He had a hustle double on a blooper to the left field, stayed in the game and scored on Judge homer, but didn’t come back out for next inning
Michael Kay just mentioned it might’ve been this play. Looked awkward. Wrist or thumb. Hopefully, it's just precautionary.
Drew: I can’t tell. He had a hustle double on a blooper to the left field, stayed in the game and scored on Judge homer, but didn’t come back out for next inning….BTW…Judge refuses to challenge pitches. It’s bizarre
Robby: And he’s the one they should be holding them for. Also - Jasson D being good would be good.
Robby: And they need a plan here soon. This guy stinks.
Drew: He’s had a good game today, to be fair.
Robby: He stinks. Can’t hit and already 4 errors?
Drew: 3 hits today tho!
Robby: 10 before today
Robby: That was 1 of the hits lol
I was just thrilled he made contact.
Drew: Fair…He’s not great…or good.
Robby: Average would be ok
Robby: Yikes
Beautiful
Robby: Wow
Drew: Had to be done
Robby: Yup
Drew: It is a real shame tho. I legit don’t know if he makes it back up this season.
Drew: The best…Figured Judge would go deep tonight. And pretty cool by Kay to do the full John Sterling call.
That was awesome. Great job by Michael Kay.
Robby: Why can’t orioles right fielder pick up a baseball?
Drew: They do not look like a very strong ball club.
Robby: Jazz gonna try to hit this 1,000 ft off the position player pitching.
Drew: Lol. Missed opportunity
5/5 ‘26
Robby: Yup - loved our bottle opener.
We had one too. Best bottle opener ever.
Robby: Bellinger is so good
Drew: Awesome all around baseball player
Robby: McCutchen looks like he’s 50
Drew: Yeah I can’t believe he’s still playing
They almost had no business winning tonight. Down 0-3 with a rookie facing deGrom.
Drew: They’re looking really good. AL is bad and so that’s probably making them look better, but still
Robby: First month of his career that’s what it seemed like Volpe would be. Got on base a lot, stole lots of bases, a little power and played good SS.
5/6 ‘26
Robby: Not helping his cause.
Tough look. They should just rip the band-aid off and get him reps all over the field instead of just SS.
Robby: Houston needs a shortstop. If they show no interest tells you all you need to know.
Drew: I think this dude needs to resign.
Agreed, but I kind of hope he doesn’t and this spills into the season, destroying the team
Drew: Oh 100% I hope whatever happens it completely ruins their season.
Robby: Does not seem like a good guy - hope they fire him and he has to step down - and that he doesn’t become someone kind of hero the team and fans rally around. Would be gross. I hope they fall apart
Fair point. Already really ugly, but wouldn’t be surprised if Kraft holds out to prove some kind of weird point that he’s loyal. Pretty scum.
Robby: Kraft is a lowlife
Drew: Not a good dude
Robby: Watching spurs v Minnesota - teams have missed 12 3’s in a row - and just keep launching.
Drew: Yeah… NBA not as fun to watch these days. Although Wemby is insane.
The Knicks need to save the NBA.
This week’s Critiquing the Critics is If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. I saw it a couple of months ago on HBO. Won’t spoil much, but it’s almost like Uncut Gems for mothers, so kinda fits for Mother’s Day this weekend.
Rose Byrne: great actress, great performance.
Good ending, she’s great. Definitely should win an Oscar eventually.
Ouch and why the hell is everybody using the phrase “tour de force” all of a sudden???
Fair point, some parts are terrifying.
For two hours, gives a bit of perspective of what a lot of moms deal with. Good movie!
