Alright @YouTheReader,
6 Foot, 7 Foot by Lil Wayne is today’s tune. It was on in the background at one of these fine drinking establishments down in Jacksonville, Florida, aka where Lynyrd Skynyrd formed. Last we left off with yesterday I was at The Ritz on Pint&Pen&Paper Week 54 (Vol I). This Lil Wayne tune came out in December of ‘10, it was a single off of his album Tha Carter IV.
Lil Wayne uses a Harry Belafonte sample of his “Day-O (Banana Boat Song)” for the chorus. The beat is very straightforward but goes very hard, as the kids used to say.
Lil Wayne comes in with a ton of charisma somehow rhyming spritzer, Patricia, commissioner, and finisher. As mentioned in BedRock on Monday, Lil Wayne was the head of Young Money. One of the rapper’s nicknames is Weezy F. Baby so here he tells us the F stands for the finisher of settling things.
Many are asking themselves, “Why should I care that you resigned from your fantasy football commissioner post?” The answer is you shouldn’t… at all. I’ve served 12 years and much like George Washington, I’d like to set a precedent. Being commish of the league has been an honor and it comes with great responsibility, but moving forward I would just like to humbly be a simple plebeian like the rest of you.
This commish bit above might be misunderstood, but what’s a world without enigma, am I right?
This is very creative, to say the least. Life can be a betch sometimes that’s for sure. Sleep being the cousin to death makes sense. Defintiely a messed up family picture especially when you combine Father Time and Mother Nature in there as well.
By the way, did you see that Bills WR Gabe Davis (no relation if you’re wondering) is questionable to go this Sunday with a PCL sprain?
Closing line of a 1st verse.
Now that I know it’s from Day-O this song is weirdly going to remind me of Beetlejuice.
*Everyone’s favorite line from the song.*
Let’s go to the pints in Jacksonville…
#GuinnessChallengeSeason
@Kids don’t try this at home. Not just because you’re underage and will have plenty of pints to drink if that ends up being your thing when you’re older but also because Guinness is actually best served in a pint glass from a tap. A pint of Guinness varies depending on the drinking establishment. If the keg it sits in is rarely poured, it can lead to some underwhelming taste. Rather than stealing gimmicks, I’d like to start taking Notes while drinking Guinness. My grandfather from Connemara, whom I never got the chance to meet, Thomas Davis, used to drink pints and by all accounts was a self-taught thinker. The one rule I’ve imposed on myself is that I will only have 1 pint per sitting from each establishment I review, so @AnyoneWorrying, don’t worry about my drinking habits. The Guinness Challenge is to “cut the G” on your first sip (more like a gulp and a half). If this is your first time hearing about it, I didn’t come up with the fun challenge @YouTheReader can try the next time you have a Guinness. The 0.0 to 10.0 scale will be extraordinarily nuanced but as a reference point, the only perfect 10.0 I plan ever to give out is at the Guinness Factory in Dublin one day.

Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: 2 pool tables. Darts. They have some arcade games. The bar is a large wraparound. This Guinness was $3. I nearly fainted when I saw the price. Wow! The prices are insane, gotta love ‘em. On the wall, they have a Corona Extra Jaguar sign. This place has a DJ booth set up and plenty of dance floor space. Bar’s bar, no food. I am so hungover, but these pints are really helping me now. Nothing like a nice pint of Guinness to clear the head!
Tavern On 1st has a DJ from Wednesday to Sunday nights. During the football season, they do $2 Miller Draft Beers and $5 Jack Daniel Shots. Nice affordable prices! I look forward to one day maybe getting another drink at Tavern on 1st!

Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: Happy Hour goes from 3 to 7 pm every day except Sundays when it’s all day. The wings are recommended. They are laissez-faire where you can seat your self-style seating. They have a V for Victory beer where all proceeds go to a charity. I bought one with my pint of Guinness, it’s good! I’m probably going to be drunk after finishing these 2 drinks. The hair of the dog is hitting me but I’m determined to have an evening.
The Flask & Cannon is an Urban Tiki Bar located right by the beach. It’s a spacious, festive hangout offering plenty of tiki cocktails with a huge rum list to choose from. They also have nice wings and pizza. If I’m ever in Jacksonville again, I’ll have to stop by!

Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: Hannah is the bartender. Pete’s Bar was established in 1933. It is the oldest bar in Duval County. It is almost the exact same interior setup except they have made some modern amenities of course and added an outdoor patio out back. Hannah moved to Jacksonville “to be by the beach, why not?” Pete’s Bar is a bar’s bar, no food served only drinks. “It is such a staple in Jacksonville that people already know what they are walking into. Dive bar.” The Guinness head top is nearly about the size of a quarter coin, solid pour. They have a ton of pool tables as well as ping-pong tables. Over the entrance is an awesome picture of Budweiser Clydesdales. Behind the bar is an old rifle gun that looks like Davy Crockett would use. This bar has a ton of history.
Pete’s Bar was the first bar to legally open in Duval County after Prohibition was repealed in 1933. Pete Jenson is who it was named after and in the 1920s it was known as Jensen’s Market.
The author by the name of John Grisham wrote about the bar in his book The Brethren. The mention in the book is, “He had a room at the Sea Turtle Inn, on the beach, and at night he hit the bars along Atlantic Boulevard. He'd found two excellent restaurants, crowded little places with lots of young pretty girls and boys. He'd discovered Pete's Bar and Grill a block away, and for the last two nights, he'd staggered from the place, drunk on cold drafts. The Sea Turtle was just around the corner." Grisham isn’t the only writer to hang out here. They also have a sign that reads “The Hemingway Years Spent Here 1933 to 1937.” They even have a picture of Ernest Hemingway with beach girls to prove it. The last writer who hung out in Pete’s Bar is The Catcher in The Rye’s J.D. Salinger, who was known to hang out in dive bars out of the limelight.
Lastly, the Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has hung out at Pete’s Bar, and if Sunshine approves it, then you gotta check it out if you’re ever in the area!
