Not Too Soon | Foxy John’s NYC | Snafu | 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2…. | Local 138
Alright @YouTheReader, I heard this song on in the background at one of these fine establishments. I don’t think I’d ever heard it before, but I thought the chorus&bridge sounded cool. Throwing Muses is an alternative rock band out of Rhode Island that formed in 1981 and who besides a 5-year hiatus from 1997 - ’02, still plays together today. Not Too Soon is considered one of their best songs but at the time of its release in 1991, it didn’t receive too much popularity.
I’ll be honest I don’t totally get the meaning of these lyrics but they sound great and the guitar tones with the drums are cool!

Guinness Challenge Season #1
@Kids don’t try this at home. Not just because you’re underage and will have plenty of pints to drink if that ends up being your thing when you’re older but also because Guinness is actually best served in a pint glass from a tap. A pint of Guinness varies depending on the drinking establishment. If the keg it sits in is rarely poured, it can lead to some underwhelming taste. Rather than stealing gimmicks, I’d like to start taking Notes while drinking Guinness. My grandfather from Connemara, who I never got the chance to meet, Thomas Davis, used to drink pints and by all accounts was a self-taught thinker. The one rule I’ve imposed on myself is that I will only have 1 pint per sitting from each establishment I review, so @AnyoneWorrying, don’t worry about my drinking habits. The Guinness Challenge is to “cut the G” on your first sip (more like a gulp and a half). If this is your first time hearing about it, I didn’t come up with the fun challenge @YouTheReader can try the next time you have a Guinness. The 0.0 to 10.0 scale will be extraordinarily nuanced but as a reference point, the only perfect 10.0 I plan ever to give out is at the Guinness Factory in Dublin one day.
Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: Kevin is the bartender, he’s been working at Foxy John’s Bar for 9 months. The inspiration behind the name is from an Irish Pub called Foxys. Their steak sandwich is recommended. The Guinness is the top seller. The espresso martinis are recommended. Exposed brick behind the bar #Rustic. Loads of red wine behind the bar. Really cool distinct blue light where the ice is. Kevin is a Celtics fan and was a massive fan of Rajon Rondo. He modeled his own basketball game based on Rondo as a floor general.
Foxy John’s located in Midtown East was named after Foxy John’s in County Dingle. Their pizza and tacos are recommended. Foxy John's can accommodate large parties of up to 120 people on their second floor which is perfect for corporate events, after-work drinks, and weekend celebrations. I look forward to grabbing another pint at Foxy John’s again soon!

Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: Snafu stands for “Situation Normal All F*cked Up.” Always thought it was a mess up, but did not know that’s what it stood for. A popcorn machine in the corner. The upstairs lounge with couches looks comfy. Tables downstairs are set up for the beer bong. I want it Noted that the Jags fan insider and I held a record of 196-3 on the table. Legendary. Dollar bills hanging up behind the bar and ceiling. Keg was just kicked so I have to factor that into the score.
Snafu Bar is steps away from Grand Central. They have a main floor, upstairs lounge, and game room. The upstairs lounge is perfect for private parties. Snafu Bar has a Happy Hour on Sunday to Tuesday from 11 am to 2 am and Wednesday to Saturday from 11 am to 3 am. The term Snafu dates back to the U.S. Military in WWII. I look forward to grabbing another drink at Snafu again soon!

Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: Colleen is the bartender and she’s been working at Local 138 since ‘06 when the bar was on Local Street. The crowd varies, the weekend party crowd is crazy. Bar’s bar, no food. Tito’s is the top seller. Manhattan on the Rocks is Colleen’s favorite drink to make. The upstairs at Local 138 is one big very nice decoration. It is a bit deceiving but nobody is allowed up there. The ceiling here is very unique. Colleen is a fan of pop post-punk. 138 Ludlow original owners were Irish. The Legend of Billie Jean movie poster is Colleen’s favorite piece on the wall. They also have an awesome American Bald Eagle at the bar.
Local 138 has a game night every Monday featuring Uno, Connect 4, and Jenga. My exterior of the original Pint&Pen&Paper Pen broke the day before so no big deal but I was gutting out with the ink chamber and no barrel. Not a big deal, I ended up just getting another Pen the next day but just wanted this Noted, I could’ve gotten a blister. I look forward to grabbing another Pint at Local 138 again soon!
