Sunset Boulevard | Barstool Scottsdale | Troon North | Bevvy | Coach House | Rooster Cup Day 4 Preview
Alright @YouTheReader, I heard this song at one of the bars yesterday. It is a new song from the band called “Million Dollar Cowboy.” They are so new that I was unfortunately unable to find the lyrics to it on @RapGenius but they have a cool sound so I figure they should be featured on the 15-Second Cover/Story/Reel.
Guinness Challenge Season #1
@Kids don’t try this at home. Not just because you’re underage and will have plenty of pints to drink if that ends up being your thing when you’re older but also because Guinness is actually best served in a pint glass from a tap. A pint of Guinness varies depending on the drinking establishment. If the keg it sits in is rarely poured, it can lead to some underwhelming taste. Rather than stealing gimmicks, I’d like to start taking Notes while drinking Guinness. My grandfather from Connemara, who I never got the chance to meet, Thomas Davis, used to drink pints and by all accounts was a self-taught thinker. The one rule I’ve imposed on myself is that I will only have 1 pint per sitting from each establishment I review, so @AnyoneWorrying, don’t worry about my drinking habits. The Guinness Challenge is to “cut the G” on your first sip (more like a gulp and a half). If this is your first time hearing about it, I didn’t come up with the fun challenge @YouTheReader can try the next time you have a Guinness. The 0.0 to 10.0 scale will be extraordinarily nuanced but as a reference point, the only perfect 10.0 I plan ever to give out is at the Guinness Factory in Dublin one day.
Song On In The Background: It Takes Two by Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock
Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: The bartenders are in lingerie. Whoever built this fine establishment did a great job. Oh that’s right it was Clune Construction that did it brick by brick. Expose brick #Rustic. This Guinness is in a can so it’s gobshite. “Sleep when you’re dead” sign hanging on the wall. 2 floors. The DJ is great. Their egg rolls are recommended. The women working were phenomenal but something was up with the can. I blame the owner at the top.
Song On In The Background: Augusta (The Masters) by John Story
Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: They have some very nice colorful drinks that some of the lads are enjoying. Troon North is an exceptional golf course. The Rooster Cup was played here during the inaugural trip. The staff put on the Yankee game when I requested and I would like to thank them once more! The wings were excellent, the nachos terrific, and the chicken sandwich was exceptional. We’re debating what Cheez Whiz is (see below). Uncle V would like @YouTheReader to know that when ordering a transfusion at Troon North, “tell them to just get the single - the double - not worth it.”

Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: Marine Corp flag draped from the high ceiling as soon as you walk inside. David is the bartender. He recommends the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and Brunch Burger. Bevvy is a beer spot. He loves working here, “it’s such a dope spot. This place is sick.” Originally from LA, he moved to Scottsdale 7 years ago. David is a playoff sports fan and a big fan of the Packers (sorry about Rodgers). “You gotta go somewhere where they’ll help you and Green Bay wasn’t helping Rodgers.” Old Town Scottsdale typically slows down during the summer when the snowbirds leave this time of year. Bevvy used to have Guinness on draft but there wasn’t enough of a demand for it to keep going with kegs. They have a fun pop-a-shot hoop in the corner.
@YouTheReader snowbirds are people who leave Scottsdale in the summer and only come here during the winter months when the weather is a bit nicer. David recommends checking out Flagstaff up north, “it is a forest and you can even snowboard at certain times of the year.” The Super Bowl being in Phoenix this past February was insane. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and OBJ all hung out at the Bevvy when David was working. Cool spot to grab a pint!
Song On In The Background: Three Little Birds by Bob Marley
Notes if you can’t read my sloppy scribble: Budweiser sent Coach House their own portrait with their logo and Clydesdales which is hanging up on the wall. The inside of the tavern has American red, white, and blue Christmas lights hanging up. Coach House has Pro Baseball Training Home Run drink specials as well as summer specials that look appealing. Marty is the bartender. The Coach House was originally built 110+ years ago as a house. It was established as a bar in 1959. People would ride their horses to the tavern to grab a pint which is the reason for the name. They will host BBQ and Chilli cookout giveaways when the weather is a bit nicer. During COVID, they sold liquor and any customers who spent over $100 got a plaque on one of their walls outside. This spot is for everybody, the old timers who come here in the morning or the kids who stay out at night. They open up bright and early at 6 AM every day of the year.
It was pretty cool to check out Scottsdale’s oldest tavern. They ice their glass for your pint, a very cool touch in the desert! Grab a pint at Coach House.

@YouTheReader you know that I know that you know how often I bring up how Scott Miller makes masterpieces. The Rooster Cup is looking forward to getting after it in Round 3, after 1 vs 1 individual matchups in Round 2, we’re back to 2 vs 2 Best Ball.
