Bad Boy For Life | Scottish Open | Yankees Weekend | YouTube Rabbithole
Alright @YouTheReader,
I’m sorry for going on a long-winded intro about thread yesterday but that was a setup for today. If you haven’t already read, @you_the_reader has been thrown in the Meta Verse Jail with no bail by Marky Mark & his mini-me minions. Their accusation against me is that Week to Week Notes is acting as spam on thread.
I’ve summoned Sean “Puff Daddy/Puffy/ P. Diddy/ Diddy” Combs to represent me…
Uhh Mr. Combs sir, what do your drug habits have to do with Week to Week Notes defense? Also, I’d like to think that the NYC pubs&bars think I’m cordial, this might not be helping.
Diddy, did you do any research on Week to Week Notes before this? The main premise of this operation is sports content for the casual fan and it’s not supposed to be that serious man. It’s also still only a 1 year old so we’re at the toddler stage.
Do you take Venmo or Zelle? I’m pretty sure my checkbook is at my parents’ house.
Yup, this C3PO-looking-drinking-water-for-the-first-time-having-ass, had the nerve, the audacity to claim I’m a bot because I got fast fingers on thread. It is a Rat Race, he himself created. Even though I’m in the Metaverse jail, @YouTheReader I refuse to wear the goggles. This past week @Zuck has stripped me of the ability to “throw likes” at Taylor Swift’s fire posts and I can’t just Shake It Off without barking a bit.
Okay @YouTheReader, how was that for an introduction to The Scottish Open ‘23?
North Berwick, SCO | The Renaissance Club | $9,000,000 (Purse) | GOLF/CBS
The first Scottish Open took place in 1973. This is the 5th year in a row that The Renaissance Club is the venue for the event and they will continue to host it until at least ‘26. While the Scottish Open has been played on quite a few golf courses, they tend to always be played on links courses because it is appealing for players who want to get adjusted to playing on links prior to the Open Championship, which takes place next week. This is the 2nd straight year Genesis Motor has sponsored the event. The winner of the ‘22 Scottish Open was Xander Schauffele.
An Byeong-hun
An Byeong-hun tied the course record at The Renaissance Club after an opening round of 61. He had 9 birdies and the rest were pars. Born in South Korea, his parents Ahn Jae-Hyung and Chinese Jiao Zhimin, were both medalists in table tennis in the 1988 Olympics held in Seoul. Byeong-hun moved to the US in ‘05 and became the youngest winner of the U.S. Amateur when he won at 17 years old in ‘09.
Davis Riley
Davis Riley birdied 7 of his last 8 holes, but like I always say, never trust anybody with the first name Davis. He shot a 29 on the front 9 yesterday morning.
Rory McIlroy
Rory was once again asked by the media about how LIV Tour could have offered him and Tiger Woods LIV team ownership as part of the PGA Tour’s proposed merger with the Saudia Arabia Public Investment Fund. His response was, “If LIV Golf was the last place to play golf on Earth, I would retire.” McIlroy had 2 bogies which got negated by an eagle and 6 birdies.
Padraig Harrington
Padraig Harrington played well yesterday, shooting 3 under. More importantly, Harrington got Wilson a new friend in Setanta. Here they are below…
JT Thomas
JT Thomas has been in the midst of a rough stretch in ‘23. He has missed the cut in 3 of his last 5 PGA events. Yesterday, however, JT Thomas looked like his old self, a bit inconsistent with birdies and bogies but finishing 2 under.
Scottie Scheffler
Scottie doesn’t know how to cheat in the game of golf. He came just a smidge away from nearly holing out for eagle, I would’ve run up ahead, tapped it in, and told the boys the wind was blowing.
Shane Lowry
Shane Lowry had a nice save on the 10th hole where he ended up birdieing. I had to include Shane just in case he wanted to grab a pint tomorrow after his 2nd round. I’d suggest The Golfers Rest in North Berwick.
Patrick Cantlay
Patrick Cantlay and a long links course. That sounds like a 6-and-a-half-hour adventure I’m going to have to pass on this go around.
Yankees Weekend
Carlos Rodon looked solid in his debut last Friday. He only threw 70 pitches but they are building him back up and he was hitting 95 and 96 on the radar gun. The Yankees are going to need a huge second half out of Rodon if they are going to have any business making the playoffs & beyond. Despite owning a 6.40 ERA, Austin Gomber leads the Rockies in wins this season with 7. In his last 3 starts, he has gone at least 5 innings and given up less than 2 earned runs in each start. He has given the Rockies length in his last 5 starts, going at least 5 innings in every one of them. Yes, I know how ridiculous it sounds that 5 innings is considered “length”, but by today’s standards, it is.
Clarke Schmidt is another guy the Yankees need to have a big second half. Early on in the season, Schmidt was extremely shakey. The former 1st Round pick of ‘17, has never thrown more than 57.2 innings in the bigs before this season and has already thrown 88 innings in the 1st half. Ideally, the Yankees need to add another starter by the trade deadline which may either shift Schmidt or Severino to the multi-inning relief role they might be better suited for at this point. Connor Seabold’s WHIP (walks+hits / innings pitched) is 1.51, which would be 4th worst in the MLB if he qualified. The Yankees can’t lose to Connor Seabold.
Gerrit Cole is coming off starting for the American League in the All Star Game and he should be well on his way to a successful 2nd half as he takes on Chase Anderson. The Rockies starter has not made it out of the 5th inning in his last 5 starts. Simply put, the Yankees offense starting off the 2nd half in Colorado against these starting pitchers needs to wake up the lineup if they even want to make the playoffs. These 3 Rockies starters are long relievers on just about any other team in baseball so the Bronx Bombers have no excuse to not look alive even without Aaron Judge.
