RJ Luis, SF, St. John's
RJ Luis Jr. is from Miami, Florida. As a junior at Christopher Columbus High School down in Miami, Luis Jr. was 1st Team All-State after averaging 25 points and 11 boards per game. In his senior season, he transferred to Mt. Zion Prep in Maryland. Coming out of high school, RJ Luis Jr. initially chose to play for UMass. As a freshman in ‘22-’23, the lefty averaged 11.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. This earned him a spot on the A-10 All-Rookie Team. Luis Jr. then decided to transfer to St. John’s last season. In 23 games (10 starts), the wing player averaged 10.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. After shooting 35% from 3 at UMass, Luis Jr. shot only 20% from 3-point range as a sophomore. This past season, RJ Luis took a massive leap in development by becoming a 2nd Team All-American and the Big East Player of the Year. As a junior for the Johnnies, Luis averaged 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 34% from 3. In the best-case scenario for the Association, I think RJ Luis can develop into a Josh Hart-like player as an excellent hustle rebounding wing, albeit limited offensively by his 3-point range.
Rasheer Fleming, PF, St. Joseph's
Rasheer Fleming is from Camden, New Jersey. At Camden High School, Fleming averaged 13.7 points and 10.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore before dealing with foot injuries that may have hurt his recruitment. By the end of his freshman season at St. Joseph’s, Fleming eventually took over the starting role as he averaged 5.8 points and 5 rebounds per game. As a sophomore in ‘23-’24, Fleming was named a team captain as he averaged 10.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. In his final season with the Hawks last year, Fleming made 1st Team A-10 thanks to his 14.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. Rasheer Fleming can hit from deep (39% 3-point shooter) and throw down poster dunks. His game reminds me of a young Nenê.
Asa Newell, C, Georgia
Asa Newell is from Destin, Florida. Growing up, he lived in Athens, Georgia, while his grandmother worked on Georgia’s campus in the President’s Office and Human Resources. Newell played high school hoops at Montverde Academy. As a 5-star recruit, Newell was considered the 2nd highest rated prospect to ever sign with the Bulldogs, only behind Anthony Edwards. In his lone season at Georgia, Asa Newell was named to the Freshman All-SEC Team with his 15.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal per game. At 6’11”, Newell has plenty of range in his defensive game, which should be able to transfer over to the Association. My pro player comp is a less intense but more skilled Joakim Noah.
John Tonje, SG, Wisconsin
John Tonje is from North Omaha, Nebraska. His father, Jean “Bertin” Tonje, is from Cameroon and he played on the national soccer team. John Tonje played high school hoops for Omaha Central where as a senior he averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. His initial college out of high school was at Colorado State where he contributed off the bench for 3.6 points per game while shooting 44% from 3 in ‘19-’20. As a sophomore, Tonje again came off the Colorado State bench but nearly doubled his scoring to 6.6 points per game. He entered the starting lineup for the Rams as a junior and made all 33 starts as a senior as he improved his averages to 12 points per game as an upperclassman. During the summer of ‘23, John Tonje played for the Cameroon National Team, helping them go 4-0 to qualify for the Paris Olympics this past summer. Tonje was initially set to transfer and play for Missouri; however, a foot injury hampered him, granting him a medical redshirt season for ‘23-’24. Upon returning to the hardwood, Tonje decided to transfer once more to Wisconsin as a graduate student. In his only season with the Badgers, Tonje was named a 2nd Team All-American and a unanimous 1st Team All-Big Ten selection. The 6’5” shooting guard averaged 19.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 39% from beyond the arc. An older NBA prospect, John Tonje projects as a Keith Bogans-type of role player off the bench with shooting potential.
Kam Jones, PG, Marquette
Kam Jones is from Memphis, Tennessee. A nationally ranked prep prospect from Evangelical Christian School, Kam Jones averaged nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds per game as a senior in high school. As a freshman at Marquette, Kam Jones was named to the Big East All-Freshman Team as he excelled as the team’s 6th Man off the bench. Jones earned a starting role as a sophomore in ‘22-’23, which resulted in All-Big East 2nd Team recognition with 15.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. During his junior season in ‘23-’24, Jones upped his scoring a tick to 17.2 points per game as he shot a career-best 41% from 3. He was particularly excellent in March of ‘24 in the NCAA Tournament, scoring 22 points per game to help Marquette reach the Sweet 16. As a senior last season, Kam Jones took over point guard duties and made the added responsibilities look seamless. The senior PG averaged career-highs with 19.2 points, 5.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. Jones was a 2nd Team All-American and a unanimous All-Big East First Team selection. The lefty guard projects as a combo guard with a game similar to Delonte West, before his downturn.
Building A Board ‘26
Dillon Thieneman, S, Oregon
Dillon Thieneman is from Westfield, Indiana. Despite being named Mr. Football by the ‘22 Indiana Football Coaches Association, Thieneman was recruited as just a 3-star prospect. He landed at Purdue in ‘23 and made an immediate impact on the Boilermakers’ defense. As a true freshman, Thieneman was named the Defensive Freshman of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association of America and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He finished his rookie campaign with 106 tackles, 6 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles. In ‘24 as a sophomore, the star safety led all Big Ten defensive backs in tackles with 104. While he didn’t pick off a pass in ‘24, Thieneman broke up 7 passes and recorded his first sack. As for this upcoming season, Dillon Thieneman has decided to transfer to Oregon to play for the Ducks. A sure tackler with a nose for the football, Thieneman will get an opportunity to play for a Top 10 Football School and should garner plenty of attention from NFL scouts.
Mikail Kamara, EDGE, Indiana
Mikail Kamara is from Ashburn, Virginia, where he attended Stone Bridge High School and won back-to-back state championships. After racking up over 30 sacks during his junior and senior years of high school, Kamara attended James Madison University. During COVID, JMU elected to play their fall schedule in the spring of ‘21 so as a freshman Kamara started 6 games and was named the CAA Rookie of the Week in February of that season. He ended up with 3 sacks that spring. Unfortunately for Kamara, he missed the entire fall ‘21 season of football and had to redshirt due to a torn labrum. When he returned in ‘22, Kamara missed half the season with multiple ankle injuries, but still showed potential in his 5 starts as he ended up with 4 sacks. In ‘23, Mikail Kamara was finally fully healthy and the results showed. He led the Dukes in tackles for loss with 19 and also picked up 7.5 sacks. Kamara played a key role in James Madison’s 11-2 season under Curt Cignetti. When Cignetti landed the coaching job in Indiana, one of his first things on the job was recruiting Mikail Kamara to come with him. As a Hoosier in ‘24, Kamara became the first Indiana defensive lineman since 2007 to earn All-American status. He finished his senior season with 10 sacks, 18 QB Hits, 40 QB Hurries, and his 73 total pass rush pressures led all the land. Mikail Kamara returns in ‘25 as a 5th senior and one of the most productive pass rushers in this upcoming draft class.
Whit Weeks, LB, LSU
Whit Weeks is from Watkinsville, Georgia. He comes from a real football family. His father, David Weeks, played offensive line for the Georgia Bulldogs. His older brother, West Weeks, and younger brother, Zach Weeks, also play alongside him with the LSU Tigers. A 4-star recruit out of Oconee County High School, Whit Weeks saw action on both sides of the ball at running back and linebacker as a high school senior. As a true freshman at LSU in ‘23, Weeks earned 3 starts at linebacker and led all LSU first-year players with 49 tackles. Weeks entered the Tigers’ starting lineup in ‘24 and immediately produced as the sophomore was named 1st Team All-SEC. He finished his season with 125 tackles, 10 TFLs, 8 QB Hits, 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception. Nicknamed “Sunshine” by his teammates for his long hair, Whit Weeks plays with a ton of intensity not often associated with the moniker, and is considered one of the best all-around linebackers in the nation.
Paker Brailsford, C, Alabama
Parker Brailsford is from Mesa, Arizona, where he helped his high school, Saguaro, win a state title in ‘21. His first college stop after high school was Washington University. In ‘22, Brailsford redshirted for the Huskies but impressed his coaches as he won the team’s Bob Jarvis Offensive Scout Squad MVP Award. During his redshirt freshman season of ‘23, Brailsford was inserted into the Washington offensive line and was named 2nd Team All-Pac 12 as well as a 1st Team Freshman All-American. When he initially entered the lineup, Brailsford played right guard for 2 games before moving over a spot to his left as Michael Penix Jr.’s snapper. After losing in the National Championship Game, with much of Washington’s offense moving on to the NFL, and their head coach Kaelin DeBoer replacing Nick Saban at ‘Bama, Parker Brailsford decided to transfer along with DeBoer to Alabama in ‘24. Brailsford immediately earned the starting center spot in ‘Bama and was once again productive in DeBoer’s offensive scheme. He allowed just half a sack all season while recording 63 knockdown blocks. Parker Brailsford enters ‘25 as one of the nation’s top centers and is likely projected to be a Day 2 pick in the NFL Draft.
