Today’s tune is Drake’s 6 Man because it’s the next song on the If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late album in chronological order every Monday.
Lou Williams was the 6th Man on the Toronto Raptors when this album came out. In high school, Williams played for South Gwinnett, which is right outside Atlanta. Williams won the 6th Man of the Year during his 1 season with the Raptors as well as 2 other times later on with the Clippers when he somehow managed to average 20+ points off the bench. I got Williams right behind Jamal Crawford and Manu Ginóbili as the best 6th Man of his generation.
With Thanksgiving around the corner, this line just sounds like this GIF. Best of luck on Thursday to all those who can’t cook but will be watching football and in between commercial breaks are just there so they don’t get fined.

Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon
Derrick Harmon is from Detroit, Michigan, where he played for Loyola HS. Ranked one of the best defensive tackles in the nation as a recruit, Harmon initially decided to stay close to home at Michigan State. After redshirting his ‘21 season, Harmon racked up 30 tackles, 3 TFLs, 2 sacks, and 15 QB pressures in ‘22. He returned in ‘23 as a Spartan starter where he recorded 40 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, and 18 QB Hurries. This past spring, Derrick Harmon decided to transfer to the Oregon Ducks. As the top defensive lineman on the #1-ranked Ducks, Harmon may only have 3 sacks on the season but his 34 QB Hurries in 11 games is ridiculous. Perhaps his biggest highlight of the season thus far was ripping the ball out of Ohio State’s RB Quinshon Judkins’ hands for not only a forced fumble but a recovery. At 6’5” and 310 lbs., Derrick Harmon will be an absolute disruptive force as an interior lineman in the NFL.
Rylie Mills, DT, Notre Dame
Rylie Mills is from Lake Bluff, Illinois, where he played for Lake Forest High School. A 4-star prospect, Mills was all-state ‘19 with 45 tackles, 14 TFLs, and 5 sacks. During his first season at Notre Dame in ‘20, Mills didn’t crack the starting lineup until the CFP Semifinal against ‘Bama. He earned bigger roles in ‘21 and ‘22, collecting a total of 7 sacks while appearing in every game as a rotational defensive lineman. Entering ‘23, Rylie Mills earned the Notre Dame Father Lange Iron Cross Award, which goes to the Irish player who demonstrated improvement and leadership in the weight room. Mills earned a starting role for the whole season and the results followed as he racked up a career-high 47 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, and 2.5 sacks. PFF College graded his ‘23 season as an 80.6 Overall as he excelled as a pass rusher with great underlying stats like 20 QB Hurries and 9 QB Hits. This season, Mills was named a team captain for the Fightin’ Irish. He has not only continued to get to the QB but has brought him down with a career-high 7 sacks on the season. Mills and his teammate Howard Cross III, make one of the most formidable duo of defensive tackles in College Football. The 6’5” & 295 lbs DT has pass rushing skillset from the interior line that should translate on Sundays.
Francisco Mauigoa, LB, Miami
Francisco Mauigoa is from Ili'ili, American Samoa. His high school story is interesting in that he attended Tafuna High School in American Samoa every year but his junior season. As a junior, Mauigoa played football at San Bernardino, California, as he was named Ambassador League Offensive Player of the Year. Mauigoa played QB on offense throwing for 1,1133 yards and 10 TDs while making 46 tackles as a linebacker as well. He returned to American Samoa for his senior year and was the top prospect of the South Pacific Ocean Samoan archipelago. His first college out of high school was Washington State. After sitting for much of his freshman season, Mauigoa made 11 starts in ‘22, culminating in 60 tackles, 6 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, and an interception. When he hit the transfer portal following his only season, Mauigoa was one of the most highly after defenders of the bunch. He decided to play for the Miami Hurricanes and immediately made an impact. As a junior in ‘23, Mauigoa had 82 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and an ACC-best 18 tackles-for-loss, earning All-ACC 2nd Team. This season Mauigoa has had 75 tackles, 2 sacks, and 9 TFLs while leading the Miami Hurricane defense to possibly their first College Football Playoff birth.
Grey Zabel, OT, North Dakota State
Grey Zabel is from Pierre, South Dakota. His parents were collegiate athletes at North State in South Dakota, his dad playing football while his mother was on the track and basketball. A TF Riggs High School graduate, Grey Zabel played both the offensive and defensive lines as a starter for 3-straight state championships. He joined North Dakota State in ‘21, where he sat for 2 seasons as a backup offensive lineman with limited snaps. In ‘22, Zabel made 7 starts for Bison, 2 at left guard before shifting over to right tackle for the final 5 of the season. Zabel entered the ‘23 season as the starting left guard before permanently switching to right tackle. Of his 675 snaps, the North Dakota State coaching staff gave him a 90% grade and he was third on the team in physical finish points. This season, Grey Zabel moved from right to left tackle and has been elite. In his first year as the Bison’s blindside blocker, Zabel has allowed just 1 sack and 2 QB Hurries. PFF College has graded Zabel as a 90.7 Pass Blocker and 90.0 Run Blocker. At 6’6” & 305 lbs., Zabel should have the size and toughness to block at the next level. Since ‘21, North Dakota State has produced 3 OTs drafted in the 4th Round of better in Dillon Radnunz, Cordell Volson, and Cody Mauch. Grey Zabel should be the next in line to add to the list of Bison.
Shavon Revel Jr., CB, ECU
Shavon Revel Jr. is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In high school, Shavon Revel Jr. was a standout 2-way player, who netted 4 INTs at CB while hauling in 33 catches for 439 yards & 5 TDs at WR. Out of high school, he initially went to Louisburg College, a JUCO program, before transferring to ECU in ‘22. After playing just 25 snaps in his first season with the Pirates, Revel became a star in ‘23 as he was named 2nd Team All-AAC. In 12 games in ‘23, Revel had 54 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, 1 sack, and an interception that he took back to the house for 6. PFF College ranked Revel Jr. extremely high, giving the 6’3” CB an overall grade of 80.1 while he scored 82.0 in tackling and 85.0 in coverage. He entered this season with major expectations to work off of but unfortunately tore his ACL just 3 games into the season. Earlier this week, Shavon Revel Jr. announced he would be forgoing his final year of eligibility next season to enter the NFL Draft. While he may only have 1 full year of snaps and is recovering from injury, Revel Jr. could be the type of home run prospect that a team can take a chance on during Day 2 of the NFL Draft with Day 1 potential.

Mason Falslev, G, Utah State
Mason Falslev is from Benson, Utah, about 10 minutes from the Utah State campus. In high school, he starred at Sky View HS finishing as the school’s all-time leading scorer. During his first year at Utah State, Mason Falslev redshirted and was named a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and Whitesides Scholar-Athlete for his studies. Last season as a redshirt freshman, Falslev started all 34 games for the Aggies as his 950 minutes logged ranks 3rd all-time among Aggie freshmen. With the playing time, Falslev averaged 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game as his field goal percentage of 56% ranked 4th best in school history amongst freshmen who attempted 5 shots. Falslev this season has scored 25 points in his latest back-to-back games, as Utah State defeated Iowa in the Hall of Fame Classic. The 6’3” redshirt sophomore guard plays a herky-jerky style and his jump shot looks like how NBA players in the 1950s shot it, but it is effective as he’s hitting 58.3% from beyond the arc. Mason Falslev is a fun player on a 5-0 Utah State team that will be seeking its 5th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 6 seasons.
Ty Johnson, G, UC Davis
Ty Johnson is from Chicago, Illinois, where attended DePaul Prep. In high school, Johnson was a 20-point scorer who collected all-city & all-state recognition in his junior and senior seasons. His first stop out of high school was locally at Loyola Chicago. In 13 games as a freshman, Johnson was seldomly used more than as a late-game defensive specialist. He transferred to UC Davis in ‘22-’23 and immediately entered the starting lineup for the Aggies averaging 14.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, & 2.5 assists per game. After earning a Big West Honorable Mention, Johnson was honored with 2nd Team Big West recognition last season. The 6’3” guard averaged 17.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. He led the Big West in steals last season and entered this year as the conference’s leading scorer. As a senior this year, Ty Johnson is off to his best season yet, averaging 26.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals through 5 games. An elite defender with a developed scoring game, Ty Johnson has already been named Big West Player of the Week once this season and has an opportunity to win Big West Player of the Year this season.
Nick Martinelli, F, Northwestern
Nick Martinelli is from Glenview, Illinois, only about 20 minutes from Northwestern University’s campus. He attended Glenbrook High School, where he averaged 22.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a senior. Martinelli was a 3-star prospect with 2 older brothers, Jimmy and Dom, who both also played Divison I hoops. Jimmy Martinelli was a 4-year starter at NYU (‘16-’20) while Dom walked on to Northwestern in ‘20 before transferring to St. Thomas. Nick Martinelli joined Northwestern in ‘22 and was a bench role player who only averaged 2.6 points per game, but he led all first-year players in minutes. Last season, Martinelli earned more playing time in 34 games and made 11 starts. He averaged 8.8 points and 4.3 rebounds, becoming the first Northwestern underclassman to average over 8 points and 4 rebounds in half a decade. The lefty forward has taken his game to another level this season as a junior. Martinelli is averaging 23.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. At 6’7”, he has some nice finishing ability around the rim, but it’s his shooting ability that is exceptional. Martinelli is currently shooting at a 67% clip from beyond the arc and while that may not be sustainable throughout the year, his ability to get to the free throw line 7+ times a game is.
Ishmael Leggett, G, Pittsburgh
Ishmael Leggett is from Prince George’s County, Maryland. A 3-star prospect, Leggett attended St. John's College for high school and chose to play for Rhode Island in college. In his 3 seasons at URI, Leggett averaged 13.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. During his final season as a Ram in ‘23, Ishmael Leggett led the team in scoring at 16.4 points per game. The 6’3” guard then decided to transfer to Pittsburgh and was the Panthers 6th Man. Leggett was awarded the ACC 6th Man of the Year off the bench, averaging 12.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. This season Ishmael Leggett has cracked the starting lineup as Pittsburgh is off to a 6-1 start with him as the leading scorer at 18 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. Leggett is an exciting off-ball guard who has a nose for the boards and plays bigger than his listed height.
Anthony Roy, G, Green Bay
