My Favorite Tweeter | NY Yankees & Jets Talk | Critiquing the Critics - Air | YouTube Rabbithole
Alright @YouTheReader, we’ll skip the whole intro paragraph and get to the point. Whatever is on your mind, sports, music, movies, shows, life, etc. There are so many of you die-hard fans of all things who know what you're talking about, so this Thursday spot could only help. I love Thursday's spot because in a way it’s a reset of the week in Week to Week Notes.
@YouTheReader your default setting for His or Her Words, Not Mine is a team/sport/topic “fan insider.” All you have to do is send over a resume, cover letter, a form of ID, and 3 references. If you wish to come up with your own @Name, I’ll run with that so that other @YouTheReaders could also start to get to know your style. Either way, I won’t tell no one your name. Unless you want your name on Week to Week Notes.

What is sad is I can’t even poke fun at the Mets. You could replace “the Mets” with “the Yankees” & “Giants” with “Jets” and I might thread this word for word. New York Baseball is letting us down. The boys are down bad.
Good on the Mets for looking out for their fans. I’m looking forward to Hal Steinbrenner selling these $87.92 a bucket after tax. The bleacher creatures would be something else.

They are gonna empty the farm.
A lot of chatter about this dude. My guess is Yanks package Perazza and keep Gleybor until this kid is ready.
-Ohtani: the only concern is most teams ahead of the Yanks have better farm systems and aren’t in the playoffs often so might be willing to give up more for a rental.
-Arias: he’s 18 and already looks like a big leaguer, crazy.
Gonna be sad when the only trade we make is for some rando middle-reliever.
Yeah who knows tho, a lot can change in the next couple of weeks. If the Mets stay hot, I’d think they’d get involved. Wouldn’t shock me if a team like Reds, DBacks, Rangers, or Jays decide to go for it too.
Let’s gooooooo
There we go
Let’s go!!!!

This is incredible
Insane. Also, the Yankees still suck
NBA record too, Curry has it at 31
Soto, Ohtani, Aranado. Unload the farm and sign either Soto or Ohtani after the season and try to win in the next 3 years. Either that or actually play the kids. We can’t do both.
Unfortunately based on what I’ve seen from Cashman I think they can. I don’t see them getting any of those guys, even if they probably should
Although as good as Ohtani is, signing him to a massive deal could be a complete disaster if he gets hurt
Bellinger and probably Shane Bieber since he’s hurt.
This team is not worth trading anything of value for anyone at the deadline. They stink
I thought Kris Bryant retired 3 years ago.
It’s bad. They probably see it as a relief that Judge got hurt. They’ll win 84 wins, pop champagne that they went over .500, and chalk it up to Judge getting hurt. As the pinch hitter hitting .158 strikes out on 2 pitches. (@YouTheReader Franchy Cordero had a strike called against him for taking too much time at the plate pre-pitch - one of the new rules of ‘23.)
They stink.
Tomorrow’s baseball schedule
Rizzo has as many home runs as I do in the last 37 games?
He was carrying the team in April, surprised at how bad he’s been. Also, that’s a lot of baseball 👍
2 more Sunday night in Flemington at 6:30 and 8:30 pm. Yanks stink.
From our baseball group chat with my Fordham friends
Think about that. Incredible
Pathetic
The last time in last place this late in the season was in 1992.
Fire everyone involved!!

I hope his right calf is irreparably damaged
I agree with this take. Clarke has been pretty good for like 3 months. Not great but if he’s your 5 starter I like him and he’s a Yankee
(@YouTheReader these were sent late night Saturday which segwayed to Sunday morning…)

Agreed - and I think we have seen the last of Josh Donaldson. Now they will bring up Perazza so he can sit behind IKF and DJ.
Yanks are afraid too often.
This team is a complete joke. Classic baseball saying. Never make the first or third out at 3rd base. The Yankees did both consecutively.
I’m at Luke’s game. What did they do?
Didn’t catch the top 10th but Perazza just put them up 7-5 in the 11th
Peraza first at bat roped a single up the middle. Need him playing every day or at least several times a week
And they gave it up
What a total clown show
*Me every day getting ready to watch the Yankees thinking they’ll turn it around*
7/17 ‘23
They better not
He seems like a stud. I wouldn’t trade him. Oswald Peraza is leading off tonight. Which I think is exciting. But if he’s good enough to be our lead-off hitter, why has he been in the minor leagues all season?
I thought exact same thing
I remember this guy
There he is
He is hilarious
How old is Mike Moustakas?
34, I had no idea he was on the Angels lol
I hadn’t heard his name since pre-COVID.
Bad
(@YouTheReader very bad optics out of Bronx Bader not hustling this one out.)
7/18 ‘23
Sounds like a lot but I think he’s worth it. Yanks should do it.
I actually agree with this. I’m not saying bury him, but he doesn’t deserve to play every night if he can’t hit.
He seems like he needs to go to the IL for a week or something. He has to be hurt
Yup. All-Star break should have helped. But didn’t. Or he’s washed and now stinks.
Ya. But he was awesome to start the year and has been horrendous since Tatis ran into him at first
Forgot about that^
I honestly believe they do not have any idea what they are doing.
Insane. I mean could he really be any worse than Gary was behind the plate?
Imagine having an asset and just watching it appreciate, then depreciate, and do nothing until it’s worthless. (Oh wait that’s what they did with Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar.)
It’s so bad
If things stay status quo until the end of the month, how do they not bring up the kids? What do the Jake Bauers, Willie Calhoun, IKF, McKinney, Greg Allen, and 2 defense first-vet catchers have to offer next year? None of these guys are going to be on the team next year. Nobody is going to care if the kids come up and stink. They already stink.
Unless it’s because Cash has no faith in the minor league system, but you never know what any of the guys are until they make it.
He didn’t learn anything from ‘17.
That’s the scary thing is that maybe the farm isn’t any good and they know it.
Lol I was looking at the minor leaguer stats, all the guys that get hyped up (with the exception of Arias who is playing against other teens) are hitting around .245 or worse. (@YouTheReader batting average isn’t the end all be all stat like people use to fixate on, but if a minor leaguer can’t hit .250 in the minors, why would he have any hope in the big leagues?)
Jay Dee is a beast!!
Just got an update on my phone that Domingo struck out Ohtani in the 1st inning. That’s how you know this team sucks.
Same
Just looked and saw they’re losing 2-0. Why is our manager still employed?
Why has Brian Cashman been the GM literally my entire life? Who else in any profession has that job security?
1) Hal is on a yacht in the Mediterranean sipping wine and can’t be bothered to make any decisions.
2) Maybe the Pope
Scared of change. Cashman at this point is the only thing that still connects them with the dynasty, without him they must think they’ll fall off a cliff, which we may already be witnessing.
7/19 ‘23
Can he play left field?
😂😂😂
Probably hits bombs
Carlos Rodon sucks and will probably be hurt again in 2 weeks.
Seriously dude?
That’s going to go over well.
Why do they have a video of a fat guy?
What a dumb move by him. He is going to get booed for this.
What a dumb ass, he has no idea what he’s done to himself here. And his wife better not tweet about it. Aaron Judge needs to sort this guy out.
(@YouTheReader at least Tommy Khanle cares.)
Missed this. Not a great 2nd round draft pick.
(@YouTheReader at least Jay Dee knows when to sell an asset, unlike Cashass.)
Critiquing The Critics - Air
I watched Air earlier this week. If you have Amazon Prime, it’s on there. The movie flies by at a quick pace. While it might not be the greatest thing you’ll ever watch because you already know the ending, I thought they did a very good job. An interesting and fun movie about Michael Jordan signing with Nike, which changed not only sneakers but sports branding forever.
Agreed with
It feels like Walter brought his feelings into the movie and didn’t watch objectively.
Felix is totally right here. Why would an American film company with an American cast make a film about the rise of an American icon and an American brand? They should’ve focused all their attention on Soviet Union athletes of the 80s. Or better yet I guess they could have gone with Yao Ming where he was quoted in ‘09 saying, “the Chinese government killed my career”, but oh wait those might be more “Rah! Rah! Hooray for capitalism!”
I’m not sure if I’m putting it on either of their levels, but it is a good film if you like sports.
Saibal, Damon was good, but not Good Willing Hunting good, how about them apples?
