Level XV | Earthquake Eyewitnesses | NY Yanks & Jets Banter | Homeward Bound Critiquing The Critics | YouTube Rabbithole
Alright @YouTheReader,
In ‘24, His or Her Words, Not Mine has Levels by Avicii on in the background. It’s a happy song so I figured that would be better to throw up on people’s social media timelines every Thursday. If you ever find anything funny on the internet, have a story of your own you want to share, have your own insight on your favorite sports team, or even a Guinness recommendation, whatever it may be, please feel free to shoot over a text, direct message on social media, or email WeekToWeekNotes@gmail.com. You all have no idea how helpful you all are with this on Thursday’s pieces and just in general, it’s greatly appreciated!
The vocal sample to this tune comes from Etta James’ “Something’s Got a Hold on Me”, originally sung in 1962.
Moving on…
Oh yeah, with His or Her Words, Not Mine….
Large Font italics are readers like you.
The small font is me.
Just minutes after the traumatic 4.8 Earthquake that hit the greater metropolitan New York City area, of course, I felt obligated to let everybody know that I survived…
Here were the eyewitness accounts that responded to the story of that day…
Melissa R.
😂
Feel free to share your experience, need as many eyewitness accounts for this historical event.
I’m at work in the village… I thought it was the workmen across the street! 🤣
Haha similar over here in Hoboken, I thought the people in apt below me were banging on their ceiling 😂
It lasted a little longer and then I was like okay wtf whole building shook
Same here, thought if it went on any longer this old apartment would tip over😂
😂😂😂😂
Joe M.
Just had an earthquake. The whole house shook.
Mine too… I thought the people below me were banging on the ceiling.
I thought my dad dropped something large downstairs.
Isn’t there a thing about Indian Point and earthquakes? Or is that an old wives tale?
Yeah, a nuclear plant built on a fault or something. But this was in Western Jersey.
Kevin D.
😂
Did you feel it? I’m collecting eyewitness accounts.
Hell yeah. J Cole dropped too many bangers today, it shook the world 😂
Haha I heard some of it too, good for hip-hop.
For sure, it’s been awhile since a good rap beef 😂
(@KD this didn’t age well, still funny.)
Family Group Chat

Meg G: So cute ⚾️
Cindy G: First earthquake ✅ Next the eclipse 🌒
Good morning…We were/are big Bee Gee fans. We went to two of their concerts in the early 70’s. Lots of great songs… Massachusetts, NY Mining Disaster etc. They didn’t become “Disco” until Staying Alive in ‘77. Next Dad’s Jam we’ll sing some 😃. Grandpa has a songbook. Have a great day!! Love you❤️
Good morning!! Awesome, figured you guys might’ve been fans but wasn’t 100%. Great song and I’ll have to give their other music a listen as well. That makes sense then that they didn’t consider themselves disco. Awesome, looking forward to the next Dad’s Jam! Have a great day as well, love you too❤️
(@YouTheReader there you have it. The Bee Gees didn’t go Disco until Stayin’ Alive. Glad we got that sorted!)

NY Yankees & Jets Banter
Not a bad start yesterday. 6 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 7K, 0 BBs
High 🧀… That’s a great stat line.
4/4 ‘24
Start to Mets season?
I’d say so! Finally won today with 37 people in attendance.
Knicks are so good, and the ‘Nova boys are awesome.
Randle out for the year… but it might help them?
For sure. Been better without him.
4/5 ‘24
This is a killer. He’s probably out for the year if they’re already putting him on the 60-day IL
Damn
Kind of it didn’t make sense that they were trying to turn him into a multi-inning reliever this year. He’s never really done that before and he’s always hurt. Looks like it immediately backfired
Yup
That stinks
We are gonna need bullpen help big time if this team is going anywhere
That’s the one thing they’ve been consistently good at the past couple of years.
Opening Day Pregame
The intro music was awful - and can barely hear the fan reaction.
That’s on Hal.
VP Kamala Harris Full Quote
“Do you know? Okay, a bit of a history lesson. Do you know that women’s teams were not allowed to have brackets until 2022? Think about that and talk about progress, you know, better late than never, but progress and what that has done because of course when. You know I had a bracket, it’s not broken completely, but I won’t talk about my bracket. But you know just how we love March Madness and even just now allowing the women to have brackets and what that does now to have people to talk more about the women’s teams to watch them and now they’re being covered. This is the reality. People used to say ‘Oh women’s sports, who is interested?’ Well if you can’t see it you won’t be. But when you see it you realize ohhhh.”
Why were women not allowed to have brackets?
Because she made it up!
That’s weird.
That is such an absurd claim. President Obama filled out a women’s bracket every year since ‘09 and the women’s tournament has been going on since 1982. People are more interested in women’s hoops now because Caitlin Clark is a generational talent and the rivalry/drama that went on with LSU. Before CC, UConn just recruited the top 5 players of every recruiting class year in, year out and smoked the competition. Over the past decade, there have been plenty of very good players, but none of them were pulling up for 3 from 35 ft. out like Steph Curry. Also, ESPN has spent plenty of money trying to market the Women’s Tournament, they have always had the TV rights (CBS has Men’s March Madness) to it so of course it is in their best interest to get people to watch. They’ve never had this sort of star power or organic storyline like this. The storylines and star players just weren’t there. The hope is that CC raises the bar for the sport and people stay interested because more young talent comes along who grow up watching CC play.
Agreed !! Also, Stanton should not be hitting after Judge. Judge will never see a pitch.
I agree with you both and I think Stanton is washed.
3 years left. I think if Jasson comes back healthy - Stanton’s done. Gonna be awesome when he hits a HR next at bat.
*Stanton Strikes Out*
Yeah not so awesome
They don’t have to worry too much about Jasson coming back tbh bc Stanton will probably be injured by then. I’m not a Stanton hater either I just feel bad.
Post Opening Day
Offense stunk. Soto will be good tomorrow. Anthony Volpe is awesome.
That was a dud, agree with dropping Stanton in the lineup. Bat him in the bottom 3rd of the lineup and don’t expect him to do anything.
*Caitlin Clark Watch*
I’ve gotta be honest… I’m a little nervous about this game. I think UConn is very good
Basketball is a game of runs. UConn is hitting shots and nothing coming easy for Iowa, but it’s still only 5 point game.
4th Quarter
That was a dumb shot. This is a great game.
Yes - but she’s going off right now.
Bruh.
Don’t let anybody else touch the ball except CC the rest of the way.
This game is insane. I didn’t like them holding the ball that long
I was saying the exact same thing. Don’t let UConn get a chance to get the last shot. Terrible.
*UConn’s moving pick in closing seconds.*
Wow !!!
Wow!! That better be egregious
Tough call
I think the fix is in…..
lol
I support it tho!
..Jeez.. game is wild
She’s smart. This game is over.
Yes. That was a really lame call. Let it play out! I’m happy Iowa won tho. I will 100% watch the finals and root for them.
Her teammates stepped up tonight
4/6 ‘24
I’ve watched this play a bunch of times. He’s not wrong. And she set the illegal screen on someone who could have taken the winning shot. It’s a good call - just a shame the game was decided on an offensive foul. Not the ref’s fault - they have to call that.
Agreed, tough way to end the game but she wasn’t set, still moving.
CC !!!
lol
Soto-Judge gonna be fun this year.
Also - Stanton 3 hits after we roasted him this morning
Trade him while stock is up?
Winner
Ted Lasso 2 - I’m in (great great show).
Paige B great player too. I’d also sign up for a Ted Lasso 2, awesome show. Some very funny parts.
4/7 ‘24
Angel Hernandez special
What a clown. That’s embarrassing. Also - that pitch was a ball.
Stanton is awesome
Bomb
Let’s goooooo
Anthony Volpe is awesome
NCAA Women’s Final
This game is crazy.
South Carolina was just too stacked. Hell of a ride for Caitlin.
Indeed.
Tough loss, great collegiate career. SC is a special team, dominated the paint.
Astros pitcher has now thrown 13.1 innings - no hits ?!?!?! Ronel Blanco - never heard of him.
I swear Houston just has a laboratory of starting pitchers. That guy also has kinda a wild story, didn’t start pitching full time until he was 18. International free agent that wasn’t signed by astros until 22 years old. Didn’t make first start until 29 last year and is only in their rotation now because they got a bunch of SP on IL.
Wow !!
Pretty incredible. That said, I hate the Astros….and so now I hate him.
Same, glad he gave up the hit.
Haha cool story, but hope they lose.
😂😂😂 how he includes the maiden voyage and sea legs into that is too funny
Brilliant.
Anthony Volpe is awesome
4/8 ‘24
This is interesting (and yes - I hate him too).
He’s got a good point. Not sure how to incentivize SPs to go deeper with a rule but losing DH is very interesting. I’m also not a fan of Kate Upton’s husband.
Anthony Volpe is awesome
So is Juan Soto
Wow, stat find. She’s great at research.
Great follow… It’s time for robo umps. These guys are all terrible.
Terrible… Drew - Stanton is batting .500 since our conversation about him being washed and can’t hit the fastball anymore. I think Judge is washed.
Same! He sucks!
4/9 ‘24
This kid put in the work this past offseason. Wow.
Agree with this, don’t mess with anything lol
Anthony Volpe is awesome, Stanton and Judge suck !!
This is amazing - and definitely not you guys in backyard whiffle ball at grandma and grandpa’s. Rodon pitching well is huge with Cole out.
(@YouTheReader don’t know what he’s talking about my wiffle ball spray shart was only bombs over the fence in G&G’s backyard.)
Humongous
If Anthony Volpe plays as long as Jeter - I’ll be 71 when he retires. So let’s not think about that anymore.
😂😂😂 Robby I saw the Jets traded a 2026 draft pick last week and almost fell over, I agree
lol
This video is not very impressive - I assume he’s gotten better.
Jackson Holliday was born a month and a half after the Aaron Boone home run. Lol
In other words, the day Boone shredded his knee playing basketball and we got A-Rod?
Probably
4/10 ‘24
That was fast lol
Maybe do it now - let him get his first slump out of the way and roll the rest of the way. He looks great tho so tough to mess with it but I think he can handle it.
Good point, it was inevitable.
I don’t like it tbh. We’re 10-2! Don’t change anything!
Drew was right, but Anthony Volpe is still awesome.
Today’s Critiquing the Critics is Homeward Bound. I mentioned it on last week’s No Football Friday. This was a VCR classic. From ages 2 to 4, I watched this classic American cinema every day. Some of the voiceovers of the animals were Michael J. Fox as Chance, Sally Field as Sassy, and Don Ameche as Shadow. I haven’t seen this Disney movie in so long but Shadow at the end still hits every time.
The story was originally a book called The Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford, which came out in 1960. Miss Burnford had 2 doggos and a cat just like in the story. They were her constant companions during WWII in England. Walt Disney immediately saw the potential of the story on film so in 1963, Disney made the original film of the same name. Each of the animals in the 1993 film trained on their acting skills for 2 months before filming began. They were incentivized by liver treats. The head doggo trainer, Gary “Sam” Vaughn said, “There are certain restrictions to working with dogs and cats together, but there are rewards, too. By nature, they don’t get along. But our animals spent so much time together that they have become very close. These animals developed affections for each other and the actors that come through on screen.” Joe Camp, the animal coordinator and trainer also said, “This is the first time where you have animals, not just performing a behavior, but actually their behaviors interacted between each other. They’re in a sense communicating with their partner.”
I agree, how they weren’t each awarded an Oscar for their performance is a catastrophe. The Academy is lucky I didn’t know how to write just yet or I would’ve written them a strongly worded letter for their malpractice.
