Level V | 3rd Comment of ‘24 | Yanks & Jets Banter | Critiquing The Critics: | YouTube Rabbithole
Alright @YouTheReader,
In ‘24, His or Her Words, Not Mine has Levels by Avicii on in the background. It’s a happy song so I figured that would be better to throw up on people’s social media timelines every Thursday. If you ever find anything funny on the internet, have a story of your own you want to share, have your own insight on your favorite sports team, or even a Guinness recommendation, whatever it may be, please feel free to shoot over a text, direct message on social media, or email WeekToWeekNotes@gmail.com.
The vocal sample to this tune comes from Etta James’ “Something’s Got a Hold on Me”, originally sung in 1962.
Moving on…

Much appreciated again @dev2trappy…Best of luck on your collegiate season this spring! Comments like these certainly make me a bit softer inside but sorry I still hope Boston sucks at sports. Cheers!!

This is awesome !!!
Wow. I wonder if he just retires?
Likely nobody wants to put up with his BS. Kind of an embarrassing way to go out. He’s a weird dude tho so prob doesn’t care.
Yeah I guess he could spin it that the open jobs weren’t all that appealing and could have more options next year but it’s a weird situation, who knows how long he wants to coach
I’m with DW.
I thought it would’ve been kinda random if he was the Falcons coach. Maybe he’s waiting for the Cowboys to open up? Idk
I think he’s washed.
Dallas would make more sense. Feels like he’s too much of an NFL historian to go to ATL or a random team.

Very sad!
No idea if true - but if it is I would assume Gleybor is gone, DJ goes back to second, and Perazza is used as a super sub? Or Perazza is 2b and DJ plays 1b, 2b, 3b?
Would be kinda surprising, that makes sense, but I’d also think rebuilding teams would rather Perazza. Maybe DJ plays 1b, 2b, 3b, and Gleyber backs up ss again. More expensive option tho
I don’t want Chapman at all. I think he’s extremely overrated
Feels like he’ll be mid and we’ll be saying - “why did we get this guy”. I wonder tho if they don’t think Perazza is the real deal (and other teams agree)?
It feels like his value is as low as it’s been. I don’t think they believe in him. They didn’t give him a chance (until literally the last 3 games) in 2022 to be the guy, and then last year Volpe beat him out in Spring Training and it seemed like that’s what the Yankees wanted to have happen. And it’s not like he’s hit very well when he’s been in MLB….But I think since they’re not gonna get much for him in a trade rn most likely, they should just keep him. He’s fast, plays great defense, and seems like he can hit a little bit. They probably want to get him more regular at-bats but he would be pretty perfect for the bench.
Agreed, not sure what Perazza will be in MLB, hasn’t hit. Definitely think Gleybor has more value this year but just not sure who their trade partner would be on his 1 year deal. Maybe Gleybor to Brewers with Burnes? Feel like they’re competing and don’t have 2b at the moment.
To me, this is a dumb take. Who do we expect to hit behind our two best hitters? I don’t think Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig are available (and i wonder if the same complaints were made back then - “who’s hitting behind Babe and Lou?”
Also - Rizzo is good! He only started sucking last year because he literally had a concussion.
Exactly and unless u want to cut Stanton - what they want him hitting leadoff or last? Dumb take.
And btw - Gleyber still exists and is a good hitter. So is Verdugo
It’s a very good lineup.
Stanton was horrific last year, hit .190 and still got 24 homers, if he can hit .220 he can get to 30+. Plus even if they drop him down in the order, it’s not the worst problem to have. (@YouTheReader he’s just gotta change his name back to Mike.)
NY Jets to be awarded multiple extra picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. Jets getting 3 extra picks in 7th round - including possibly Mr. Irrelevant!
Can’t hurt! More dart throws.
We finally get our QB !!
The Giants blew this big time - for a running back. Yikes.
Also crazy to think now that Allen and Lamar weren’t even in discussion.
Lamar taken 32 and we’re on our 3rd QB (who is 40+) is our own disaster.
Yup, but I bet if we took Lamar he would’ve sucked and we would’ve tried to make him a kick returner or something. We just can’t do anything right.
For sure - or if with the line we had when Sam was here - dude would have had knee replacement surgery after year 1.
Doesn’t look like a guy who’d drop 73 in an NBA game.
He’s crazy
1/27 ‘24
Imagine buying tickets for that game. Oooff !!
I legit don’t think any of those guys are in the NBA right now.
Should have texted this earlier, but if you’re not watching Lakers Warriors, you have missed out.
Curry is insane.
And so is LeBron.
Just saw the ending was watching the rugby Netflix documentary, helluva game jeez.
This is Lebron's 21st season in the NBA. He’s averaging 25-7-7 52% FG 40% (!) from 3. He looks like he could legitimately keep doing this for 5 more years if he wanted to.

Wow
Double wow
What am I missing?
Jameson Williams of the Lions just broke 50 50-yard TD on an end-around.
Whoa
Joey and George?
Yeah, I went on last Wednesday, fun time! It was just Joey, George was handling the tech side of it.
Awesome !!!
This was an all-time choke job. I like the aggressiveness of the Lions, but there’s a difference between aggressive and stupid. He had 2 chances to kick field goals and got stopped on 2 4th downs. Dumb.
Yup. Bad and he’ll have to live with that.
The whole game flipped when Aiyuk caught that ball off the defender’s helmet. The Lions also have dropped quite a few. Brutal 2nd half for Detroit.
And running it there was so dumb! What are they doing!?!
All dumb stuff. Wow. Let’s see what happens….
IDK if I’d be able to recover from this as a Lions fan
Sorta like Colts’ loss first year with Rex but 5x worse
That is a bad loss - some weird plays and some questionable calls. I get that “that’s how they got there”, but they had the game if the make a couple of field goals.
Agreed

This is funny. The poor coach went from being the best coach in the league to a clown - in 1/2 of a football game.
(@YouTheReader I couldn’t find an as relatable meme of the current President of the U.S. on the internet but here is a picture of him holding a football.)
Don’t know much about him but now have to clear a spot on 40.
Interesting. It’s not that big of a deal but I’d like Wandy back. I feel like he is the only person I trust in the bullpen.
I’d like Wanday back too, might have to make a trade though, I didn’t realize the BP was filled out.
I completely forgot Scott Effross existed tbh.
Who is Jorbit Vivas? Dude from the dodgers we traded for?
Yes.
I doubt we ever see him play. But who knows?
I agree with his premise, we definitely need some cheap position players that are good. We need Volpe, 👽, and probably Wells to be good. And if 👽 isn’t good we need Jones to be. I have a hard time thinking they would have 5 or 6 super young guys in the lineup this year or next but they need some of these kids to be good
Agreed on all ^
Btw Thomas. Grinding studying tonight, but will be listening to the podcast on my commute tomorrow
Haha thanks! It was fun, Joey did a great job, I’m already dissecting the number of times I had said “like” and “uhh” 😂
I would be the exact same
1/30 ‘24
That was great. Would be awesome if you get a chance to do more. Joey’s a great kid - looks exactly the same as I remember him. His brother was a cool dude too.
It was great. How do we know that guy? Westwood guy?
Thanks! Yeah I might be going on again and do more about sports so that should be fun. He’s from Westwood, think he might’ve been Tommy's grade.
They lived on Berkeley Ave. Tommy was close with both of them.
These guys are all awesome - and JJ is a big human being.
Wow.
That is pretty surprising.
Honest question - don’t think anyone other than his friends and family care? He seems pretty irrelevant to me. Was a good player for a while but not a very noteworthy career?
He was a good safety for about 2 years, the highlight of his career was taking the ball away from Danny Dimes in a game where the Jets were 2-10 and the Giants were 3-9 or something close.
Forgot the noteworthy thing. The team that drafted 6 in desperate need of a franchise QB took a safety instead of maybe the greatest QB of all time.
(@YouTheReader “Playboi Pres is one of the few people that I would love to go full-on social media troll for. The guy owns a career record of 33-47 in the 80 games suited up. When the Jets drafted him at #6 he put on this whole “I’m the savior safety show”, but was all about him. When the Jets traded his sorry ass he went on social media and started doing TikTok dancing like a schoolboy. Jets fans don’t forget that. When he quit on the Seahawks this year, he went at a credible media member. He’s a clown.)
Happy for GW - he’s awesome, but this list is sad. Richie Anderson #7? Yikes.
Just sad.
How good was Al Toon? Must’ve been special for the 80s.
Awesome!!

@Drew would 16th or 23rd Feb. weekend work okay for the Iron Horse? Could also try March if not.
16th I can’t do but the 23rd weekend might work. I need to check with the boss (Shannon)
Interesting
Very hopeful that Warren and/or Hampton work out. Would be a big deal if they are legit.
Also, if this is true: why is he still the coordinator?!? Fire him!
I love Sam - but they should stop saying this, it’s embarrassing and I’m sure he’d rather be a better QB who played than a backup who makes the Super Bowl behind the last player drafted.
@YouTheReader Agreed, Sam should come back to the NYJ and play behind Rodgers.)

Let’s go, Caitlin!
I chose Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood at random this week because no other films were mentioned since last Thursday’s Critiquing The Critics. I enjoyed the film because Quentin Tarantino told a cool story about the summer of 1969 in his own creative way. I thought Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt were great. Margot Robbie didn’t say much, but she slayed per usual. Here are some cool facts about the film I found on ScreenRant….
- Tarantino banned phones on set. Great move!
- Burt Reynolds was set to take part in the film as the owner of the ranch the Mason Family used as a home, but passed away before filming.
- Originally the controversial Bruce Lee fight scene with Brad Pitt had Cliff winning decisively, however, they re-filmed it again to have it end in a draw. Bruce Lee’s daughter was still outraged at the legendary Bruce Lee’s portrayal in the film.
- This was Tarantino’s 9th film he directed and he only plans to make one more…the title of that film will be The Movie Critic.
Let’s see what the movie critics had to say about Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood…
Run-on sentence…tisk…tisk…
Ah yes, Peter, Margot Robbie shines as the golden emblem of innocence in an era of disarray. Indeed!
Hey guys, check it out Anthony Lane smokes dubbies! Cool story bro!
Wait this was a silent film?
Nice way to put it, good movie!
