Level III | Tiger Copper Ale Shoutout | Phins Fan Insider | NY Yankees & Jets Banter | Critiquing The Critics: Coming to America | YouTube Rabbithole
Alright @YouTheReader,
In ‘24, His or Her Words, Not Mine has Levels by Avicii on in the background. It’s a happy song so I figured that would be better to throw up on people’s social media timelines every Thursday. If you ever find anything funny on the internet, have a story of your own you want to share, have your own insight on your favorite sports team, or even a Guinness recommendation, whatever it may be, please feel free to shoot over a text, direct message on social media, or email WeekToWeekNotes@gmail.com.
The vocal sample to this tune comes from Etta James’ “Something’s Got a Hold on Me”, originally sung in 1962.
Moving on…
Tiger Copper Ale Shoutout
Tony from the UK Writes:
Something to make you smile, I hope!
In order to keep to my Dry January I tried Guinness Zero. It lived up to its name, right colour, a good head, but mostly zero taste! 😢 so my wife said, enough of this madness took me to our local thatched pub and Dry January went into temporary relapse!
But I had my local brew Tiger Copper Ale to take away the taste of Guinness Zero! Chin Chin! Only 5 months and we’ll be back in the USA (not that I’m counting! 🤥)
That sounds about right with Guinness Zero, unfortunately missing a key ingredient! They have a very cool logo that Tiger Copper Ale, glad it took away the taste. Best of luck on the rest of your Dry January, although a temporary relapse or 2 might not be the worst 😂 cheers!!
Chin chin! 😂
…
After hearing about Tiger Copper Ale, of course, I had to do a bit of research on it so I hit up the local Google… Way back in 1849, a fella by the name of William Everard founded the original brewery in Leicestershire. For the Yanks reading this, that’s only about an hour northeast of where Tommy Shelby was from (Birmingham). This year the brewery is celebrating 175 years, all in the same family, as they are 6th generation in the business. The Everards family has over 150 pubs across the East Midlands. They have a pretty cool business model where they allow business owners to run a pub the way they wish and they’ll invest/supply the bar with their beer. They started investing in pubs in 1862, so it’s fair to say the family knows a thing or two, even winning multiple “Publican Pub Company of the Year” Awards.
In terms of Tiger Copper Ale, that was born in 1972. It is the family’s most popular ale, as it is British hops meets premium malt. It looks like copper, has a spicy hop smell, and has a nice balanced taste. They got the name Tiger from Leicestershire’s Royal Regiment nickname back in 1825. The Tiger logo itself was a battle honor given to the regiment by King George III for their service in the Battle of Princeton in 1777. (George Washington emerged victorious… sorry Tony 😂.) Today, Leicestershire’s local rugby club is named the Leicester Tigers, and Everard’s Tiger Copper Ale is their official beer sponsor. Here’s to another 175 years for the Everards and thank you, Tony! 👍
Also, I received some Guinness Pint recommendations for Rogers Pub in Rockaway Park and Happy Jack’s Burger Bar, which was previously owned by Dalton’s Seaside Grill which was the top Guinness according to some publication called the Daily News back in ‘11—much appreciated for the recommendations, thanks Finbar!
Phins Fan Insider
Before the game Phins Fan Insider complimented the Miami-Kansas City Wild Card Game write. “Very fair and unbiased breakdown of the fins, injuries have been killer. Tua has not been good in big games. It’s going to come down to the run game.”
After the game…
Yeah soooo…We might need to rethink this QB situation.
That was tough.
Tua doesn’t have the fire. Can’t make plays after his 1st read and just isn’t an alpha. He doesn’t have any burst in his step to make plays and get away from pressure. Also can’t make any big-time throws when he is off schedule. That matters a lot nowadays with this league… Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Stafford, Hurts, Lamar, and Rodgers (when healthy), can all do that.
Our defense with 6 starters out (all good players by my account) kept us in this game and the offense which is supposedly so explosive and great didn’t do a fucking thing outside of an under-throw Tyreek took to the house. Get Tua off his first read and he’s ass cheeks against good teams. We are screwed all good players gunna walk after next season. I’m done, thank you for attending my Ted Talk.
@YouTheReader this was raw fan emotion minutes are the game. He was spot on with his pregame analysis, Miami only rushed for 76 yards on the ground as KC nearly doubled their total with 147 rushing yards. Reports are that Miami is interested in signing long-term to an extension as he only has 1 year left on his rookie deal.
@PhinsFanInsider thank you for your Phins’ Ted Talk and the compliment. 👍

Man - of the Jets knew they were not going to keep Zach after this year anyway, what in the world were they doing?
Doesn’t make much sense, maybe they thought a year of him sitting could help his trade value. They weren’t going to give him the 5th year option so would’ve had to agree with a new deal.
Caitlin Clark - still great at basketball
I enjoy watching her play more than anyone in the NBA. She’s amazing and I think another year of college left after this year?
That’s right still has another year of eligibility from the NCAA COVID waiver.
I hope she stays - once she goes to WNBA we’ll never hear about her again.
I knew something was weird yesterday and I think it’s funny he’s on the very next day.
That is pretty good, thought something was up yesterday too. McAfee really just doesn’t care, it’s great haha
Remarkable !!
I think I want him
He’s our best chance at having a real #2 with Cole
Ugh. After you guys roasted him yesterday I think I have flipped back to hating Stroman and not wanting him.
I wonder what the deal is going to be, he had a player option this year of $20 mil so would think it’s around there.
If they get him and the other guy - we’re probably winning the World Series.
BTW - Knicks are for real this year, but just gave up 44 pts in 1st Q in Dallas - yikes !!
2-year deal for Stroman with an option for a 3rd year if he pitches 140 innings
And not getting the other guy right?
Based on this from Jack Curry, looks like we’re not. I would’ve rather had Snell even tho it’s riskier. I do think Stroman is pretty good. Just hate him.
They have to be making a trade still.
This guy is right. There is 0 chance the Yankees had Stroman in their plans.
It’s obvious.

This is odd - really changes nothing - but odd.
Oh - not sure if you’ve been back to Iron Horse in Westwood since it re-opened - but the Guinness is very good. Next time you’re around let’s check it out. (February - I’m doing the no fun, I mean dry Jan thing).
I agree. Went there with Shannon a couple of weeks ago. Legit might be the best I’ve ever had. And the burgers are still 🔥 We should do another night like we did at Finnegans last year. Just maybe not pick the coldest day of the year this time.
Bingo
I’m down. Let’s do it, mid/end Feb it is! 👍
The dude is a monster.
I’m either gonna love this team or hate it
At least if it doesn’t work. We know Cash will be gone
This is hysterical

Yea no thanks !!!
Absurd (@YouTheReader this was the scene of the Kansas City concession stands.)
I hate him, but I think Tyreek Hill might be the best receiver I’ve ever seen. Or at least the scariest. He can literally score on any play.
Yes - still glad we got GW.
Me too.

Dolphins are big picture much worse than the Jets - and it’s not really close. Not sure I knew that.
They went fully in win now. Now have to figure out if they will pay Tua, most of the roster is vets, and Tyreek only playing another 2 years.
Coach looks cool when they are winning - not so much when they play against winning teams.
I feel like the Mets are going to go nuts next year.
Yep. We better figure it out with Soto. Also, of course, the Packers are awesome and our season has been over for 2 months
We need the Jets to draft a QB and have Rogers turn him into Jordan Love. Belichick will be the Cowboys coach by Tuesday (and it won’t work). If he goes to the Eagles instead - that might work.
1/15 ‘24
Yikes - Giants are a mess.
That’s a real shame. The GM monitoring the play headset is wild, I guess might happen more than we know tho.
Thomas - there isn’t enough Guinness in Ireland to get me to do this !!
Bills and Steelers fans are a different breed
How could you not want to play for this guy? Wow.
He’s the best. I’m rooting for them.

When the highlight of your season was the intros before the first kickoff of the season - you should stop doing this and turn the page. Go away until the draft or something.
Haha that really is an odd post for the middle of January.
It’s so sad. It really was the highlight though 😂😂😂
This is awesome
That’s a tough look for the reporter, Bowles handled it pretty well.
Critiquing The Critics: Coming to America
Today’s critiquing the critics is Coming To America because it’s one of my uncle’s favorite movies and he’s a Cowboys fan… that was a rough weekend. Coming to America starring Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, and James Earl Jones, came out in 1988. Murphy, who plays the crown prince of Zmaunda (a fictitious African nation), Akeem Joffer, decides to come to America and he just so happens to pick New York City. I won’t spoil it, but he falls in love and there are a lot of laughs. Here are some facts about the film…
- In the film, Murphy works at McDonalds, however, they actually filmed the scenes at a Wendy’s in Queens. You can’t check it out because the Wenday’s has since been demolished for a $105 million, six-story luxury apartment. While the setting of the movie is supposed to be Queens, the majority of the other scenes are shot in Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
- The director of the film, John Landis, also filmed Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video and it was rumored that either MJ or Prince were going to be in the film. They were not, it was just a bit of 80s Breakfast Club gossip.
- This film was also famously the first time that Eddie Murphy played more than one character in one film. His iconic shop scenes would go on to become one of Eddie Murphy’s trademarks as an actor. In the barber chair getting a haircut was Cuba Gooding Jr., who was making his film debut.
