I’m honestly just like any other fan of sports. Just like my Yankee fan insiders, when the Bronx Bombers lose 2 in a row in April because they go a combined 1 for 15 with RISP, I slump into the office muttering that they need to trade Gleyber Torres. The only difference between myself and most fans is that I’ve been practicing writing about sports since I was 21. Trust me, any one of you ladies&gentleman can do this.
The spirit of a hustler I get from my dad who’s worked in construction since he was 16 years old. My “hustling” is clicking buttons on a phone and typing on a laptop so I feel ridiculous even trying to relate to him in that regard. While I go into the office twice a week, the worst part of my commute is the smelly 15 mins or so where I’m on a Subway. My dad will sometimes work night shifts where he’s down in the subway for hours on end.
I don’t have swagger like a college kid. Although I might be posting like one of them of late, it is only to promote the Week to Week Notes and @You_The_Reader brand. I also can’t drink as I used to in college, but I’m more than okay with that. I’ll only pull the #GuinnessChallengeSeason 7 pubs in one night on Fridays. This Sunday morning though, I’ll be heading into the city to hit some pubs up before they start to draw crowds to make it an easier interview for the bartenders.
I don’t really have time for people who hate what I’m doing at this point. Now that you all know who Week to Week Notes is endorsing for President for the next decade, hopefully, you understand that I’ll never again address politics. I want Week to Week Notes to be for anybody who likes to read.
I still love consuming sports. It is just now I get all my own sports takes off of Twitter news. I no longer really care for the opinions of competitors. I may not be an expert on everything I cover but I’d prefer to give you my own warped fandom takes without them getting deluded by others in the industry. I also have a team of fan insiders who consume all of their teams so whenever they text me an idea they either saw or came up with I use that (citing my fan insiders).
I’m really not doing all of this for the fame. If you look at any of my personal social media accounts, I either have the Week to Week Notes logo or my Yankee hat over my face. Although it probably looks weird, I don’t care. I’d prefer to always be able to still just sit in my favorite view of a Yankee game - in section 420 behind home plate or in the bleachers - with the real fans. If the account ever grows large in numbers, I promise to never use my social media platforms to talk into a camera like I’m some celebrity.
I grew tired of the hooting and the hollering on certain networks where they debate sports all day back in college. They all have been played out and I genuinely find better sports arguments to be more interesting between real fans at a bar or amongst friends that know their stuff.
Lastly, of course, I want to make a ton of money out of my hard work, but that is really just an effort to improve the lives of all the good people I know. I hate it may come across as extraordinarily egotistical but hopefully, one day if my Fairytale in NY works out, you’ll find it sincere. I take public transportation and I plan on living in Hoboken for the foreseeable future. If I ever make money off of marketing brands, it won’t be to show off, it’ll be so that the fantasy football leagues I’m a part of get a free keg and draft board. That is an oddly specific and stupid goal but one that I wanted Noted. There are obviously many more important things than something as petty as that, but I hope you catch my drift. I hate that I have to come out and outwardly type these sorts of things and you don’t have to believe me but I hope you do. I do all of this to challenge myself as a writer, but also for all you men and women who take the time to read what I write while I’m still small. It won’t be forgotten.
Sorry just a quick advertising scheme for @You_The_Reader, please scroll past if uninterested.
Z-100s Wine Racks
Remember when Z-100 used to give away free tickets for every 100th caller? How about I do that with @YouTheReader? For every 100th follower of the Instagram account @You_The_Reader, I will steal a wine rack from my parents’ house give away a hand-crafted custom-made wooden wine rack. Don’t worry, anybody that already follows the account is already accounted for so I’ll announce the winner(s) once it hits 100, 200, 300 followers, etc.
Swings&Misses… Sorta
Jimmy Fallon Has Not Yet View/Read Lisztomania…
…so it does not look like the faceless no-name writer will be appearing on Jimmy Fallon Tonight to promote Week to Week Notes and @You_The_Reader.
However,
my constant posts on the @You_The_Reader account have led to two verified accounts with a much larger following to take notice. A Sky Sports anchor (who will remain nameless) with 283k followers liked the Lisztomania Pint&Pen&Paper #GuinnessChallengeSeason story. The other notable verified account that I will be working on collaborating later this week with is the @SimpkinsTwins. They voted on the Taylor Swift vs Rihanna Weekly Debate so I will return the appreciation by doing a Day by Day on their new single called Silence.
#BoobyTrapChallenge
I am pairing two rivals in their respective industries against one another for donations to charities. I understand many will think it is a waste of time and overly ambitious to think the corporations would ever check out the @You_The_Reader account’s stories but if I hound the rivals every day in their DMs you never know. It only takes me a few clicks, maybe 15 mins a day to do this, I don’t mention a monetary figure amount (whatever the corporation deems necessary which I’m sure they would just claim to be a tax write-off), and I want nothing to do with how money is exchanged.
This Week’s #BoobyTrapChallenge: Barstool Sports vs The Ringer
The charity that a @You_The_Reader had already sent me was St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Trends Change, Rumors Fly
Back in 2018, Rodgers reportedly bought a stake in the Milwaukee Bucks as a minority owner. Now it appears he may be even more invested in ownership.
This photo of the two was taken in 2019. Mallory Edens caused a stir by wearing a Pusha T shirt when her Bucks were playing the Raptors in the playoffs. Pusha T and Drake were in the midst of a rap beef so it was very clever and petty of her.
Maybe if I tag her and Rodgers, they can confirm or deny the rumors.
This Week’s Friday “Thematic Concept Song”
“Mastermind” by Taylor Swift
For the small faction of @YouTheReaders who might be into a sneak peek at the song for Friday…
…(I know most of you don’t care, but thanks for scrolling to the bottom anyway)…
Alright it’s 4 AM. I’m going to catch some sleep, get up and drink some pints in the city. @YouTheReader go out today and Live Your Life. Why am I doing this? ‘Cause I’m a Paper Chaser.
